Companies experiencing rapid growth need a communication strategy that scales with them. That was precisely the situation when the Trench Group—a leading global supplier of components and systems for high-voltage power transmission—was looking for a new communications partner in 2025. Following a competitive pitch process in which ORCA van Loon Communications emerged as the winner, the Hamburg-based communications consultancy has been providing comprehensive corporate communications support to the Trench Group since October 2025.
The Trench Group, headquartered in Berlin, reported revenue growth of over 30 percent to 906.5 million euros in fiscal year 2025—the second consecutive year of growth on this scale. With a record order backlog of around 2 billion euros and a global expansion of capacity in several countries, the company faces a communications challenge that requires strategic depth, an international perspective, and a clear understanding of stakeholder expectations.
Since the start of the mandate, Frederike Buddensiek (Senior Consultant) and Jakob Baugirdis (Partner) have been responsible for the client account at ORCA van Loon and report directly to Ulrich Künster, Vice President of Communications, Marketing & Public Affairs at the Trench Group. “The close connection to the communications leadership enables strategically integrated collaboration—from strategic positioning and the development of thought leadership to media relations and targeted LinkedIn communication, which raises the profile of executives and the company as credible voices in the energy sector,” explains Hendrik Schulze van Loon, Managing Partner at ORCA van Loon Communications.
The partnership with the Trench Group is further evidence of the growing importance of strategic corporate communications in technology-driven, globally oriented companies. At a time when the energy transition, the expansion of global power grids, and the boom in data center infrastructure are shaping public perception, clear and credible communication with the media, stakeholders, and the public is of critical importance.
