Background

Autoliv, a leading global manufacturer of automotive safety systems and a supplier to all major automobile manufacturers, was facing an extensive restructuring process. This included relocating production to a new site and relocating the research and development department to a state-of-the-art facility.

Assignment

Our goal was to provide comprehensive advice to the German CEO in this process. The challenge was to support both the relocation of research and development and the relocation of production in the context of a future-oriented, pan-European strategy, with the protection of the company's reputation being the top priority.

Idea and Implementation

We developed a holistic communication strategy for the restructuring process and for positioning the German CEO, both internally and externally. The restructuring measures were presented as part of a strategic realignment on the German market in order to facilitate constructive negotiations with employee representatives.

Result

Through transparent communication and a convincing storyline, we were able to minimize resistance from employees. Reporting remained largely neutral and our core messages were successfully placed. As a result, we were able to successfully protect the reputation of the CEO and the entire company among all relevant internal and external stakeholders throughout the entire restructuring process.
