The regional energy supply company has long been committed to greater sustainability in its region, focusing on a wide range of topics. Assignment

100 percent green electricity – the municipal utility company Stadtwerke Uelzen has been supplying its private customers with this as one of the first companies since 2008. In this context, we were commissioned to develop short- and long-term measures to strategically position and strengthen the brand, with a stronger focus on sustainability in recent years. In addition, the aim was to continuously build up the company's reputation.

Idea and Implementation

We were able to consistently advance the goals through strategic public relations, website maintenance, internal communication, and professionally managed communicative and strategic support in specific crises. In addition, we have implemented numerous successful campaigns and customer and press events, each of which received media coverage. We developed and implemented suitable moving image formats for the conversion of public transport to e-buses and in the course of other projects. We have been designing and creating the customer magazine mycity magazin for 14 years now together with the municipal utilities. Since 2023, ORCA van Loon has officially been acting as the external press office for Stadtwerke Uelzen. The current thematic focus is on a wide range of mycitysustainability projects. In addition to e-mobility, these include the commissioning of new PV parks and communicative support for the exploration of geothermal potential in Uelzen.

Result

ORCA van Loon has played a key role in advancing the strategic brand positioning and in helping to emotionally charge and expand the brand core with core aspects such as sustainability, locality and trust. We were also able to position the Uelzen municipal utilities as pioneers in the field of electromobility and in their commitment to a future-oriented energy supply at the national level. We supported the company through crisis situations, such as during the pandemic, with closely coordinated communication, including press releases and news articles for the website.
